Welcome
The City of La Grange welcomes
you to our community and the exciting opportunities available
for your enjoyment and entertainment as well as your business
purposes.
La Grange is a city of 4,200 people with a trading area of 22,000
strategically located within the triangle of Austin, San
Antonio and Houston. Our location provides a perfect place to
spend a weekend, a week, a winter or a lifetime. Seventeen
miles from Interstate 10 and only 50 miles from an
international airport, La Grange is the site of Monument Hill
State Park, the Faison Home, the future home of the Texas
Czech Heritage Cultural Center, and other historical sites.
Because of our German and Czech
heritage, our residents have a strong work ethic that is
evident in the thriving business community. Our restaurants
and bakeries offer some of the state's best home style cooking
and treats.
La Grange is the county seat of Fayette County and the
courthouse is the center of our restored downtown square.
Volunteers from throughout the community came together to
restore the 115 year old county jail, which is used today as a
Visitor's Information Center and the offices of the La Grange
Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Fayette County Industrial
Foundation.
We are a city with a proud
history. Our forefathers were the first settlers into this
wild land of Texas. They fought and many died for Texas
Independence. Today we continue to reflect the best of our
heritage and our dreams for the future.
Tourism abounds, businesses
flourish, children are safe, and we anticipate the future with optimism, excitement, and a plan for our city.
The county boasts an unemployment rate of only 3%, and La
Grange is known statewide for our outstanding schools. |
