Rosary Parish, United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Freyburg United Methodist
Church and the La Grange City
Cemetery.

Tour Tips:
1. Bring
your camera! Remember the Heritage House of worship Tour by taking photos of the churches and
cemeteries you visit, as well as of the paintings you will see.
2. Dress
comfortably!
Learning the stories of Fayette County through the lives of its
citizens the True Texas Tour
is the tour for you. Anglo colonist of Stephen F. Austin’s “Original Three
Hundred” settled on the bank of the Colorado River near Old Bahia Road beginning
in 1824 in what was then Indian country. They were soon joined by hundreds of
German and Czech immigrants seeking a better way of life. Together with slaves
brought in to work the plantations, these citizens forged a culture that was
uniquely Texan.
You
and your group will start at the Old County Jail where you will meet your tour
guide and view a brief video about Fayette County. After the Jail, the
next stop is the Fayette County Courthouse and a visit to the original La Grange
Depot. After visiting these sights, you will head north to tour the Texas
Czech Heritage Center. Ending this tour is a visit to the Monument Hill
State Park where you will see the Memorial to the Dawson Massacre. There
is a minimum number of ten people required for this tour.

The
Historical Tour will start your step
back in time by visiting the Old County Jail where you will meet your tour
guide. Here are some of the sights where you will witness a glimpse back
into a simpler time: The Faison Home, The Fayette County Courthouse,
Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives, Downtown Square, The Old Depot and Polka
Lover's Club of Texas Museum.
